Lately when I would normally be knitting, I find a non-knitting thing that needs to be done and decide that this non-knitting thing must be done before any knitting can happen. Then, when the non-knitting thing is done and I can sit down to knit, I find another non-knitting thing and decide that it too must be done before any knitting can happen. I repeat this until it’s time for bed. These non-knitting things are neither urgent nor necessary for my family’s survival, it’s more like I’m looking for things to do other than knit…if that makes sense. I’ve been playing this weird, unfamiliar knitting-procrastination game for over a week now and have finally admitted to myself that I’ve lost my knitting mojo. I haven’t knit in over a week!! That’s the longest I’ve ever gone without knitting (except for 3 months in 2012 when a medical issue prevented me from knitting).
I’m sure it’s temporary, I can’t imagine never wanting to knit agin. In fact, as I was lying in bed last night waiting to fall asleep I was thinking of what yarn I should use for my next Superbulky Grandpa sweater, so I still have knitting on the brain.
I’ve never lost my knitting mojo before. I’ve heard other knitters say they’ve lost their knitting mojo and that it came back. I really hope my mojo decides to come back soon - I have a lot of socks to knit and ideas for many more socks that I’d like to knit. Have you ever lost your knitting mojo? How long did it take to come back? If you happen to find my knitting mojo please tell it that I miss it very much and wish it would come home.
Edited To Add: Apparently my knitting mojo is so lost that I can’t even spell ‘knitting’ correctly in my missing poster 😆
